A day in winter fairytale – a day in Log pod Mangartom
Log pod Mangartom lies in Loška Koritnica valley in the Triglav National Park. The valley is surrounded by 15 peaks with an elevation of over 2.000 m, giving it a unique atmosphere and making it an attractive starting point for hikers. Log pod Mangartom is a picturesque, small village nestling under mt. Mangart. The village comprises two adjoining settlements: Spodnji Log (Lower Log) and Zgornji Log (Upper Log).
The ski lift in Log pod Mangartom is located in Spodnji Log, next to Motel Encijan. It is open at weekends and holidays between 10 AM an 4 PM. The slope is particularly suited to beginners, families with small children and first time skiers. Adult’s ticket: 12 €, children’s ticket: 9 €.
There is a 3,5 km cross-country trail in the valley for classical and free-style cross-country skiing. Surrounded by Loška stena, the mighty Mangart and the slightly lower Jalovec, skiers can enjoy a unique view of some of the tallest Julian Alp summits.
Koritnica valley is a great place for a winter hike. When there is fresh snow, hikers can enjoy snowshoeing. The valley is also called the valley of 100 waterfalls. In the low winter temperatures, the waterfalls around Log pod Mangartom transform into a paradise for ice climbers.
